Welcoming Spaces for LGBTQ Library Patrons and Staff

During this session we’ll discuss how to create and maintain welcoming spaces for LGBTQ library patrons and staff. We’ll also strategize about ways libraries can support the needs of transgender and nonbinary people. Join us to learn what actions you can take to move from accepting to expecting LGBTQ patrons and staff, and build a culture of LGBTQ belonging.

Presenter Bio: Luca Maurer has worked in the US and abroad with students and teachers, families and caregivers, faith communities, workplaces large and small, and professionals in social services, law enforcement, healthcare and more. He serves as Executive Director for Student Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at Ithaca College. Prior to this, he was also the College’s founding director of the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services, and taught in the Sociology department.
