Author Tim Green to Visit Cortland Free Library

As part of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) 2016 Summer Reading Program, On Your Mark…Get Set…READ! the Finger Lakes Library System and the Cortland Free Library are pleased to announce that best-selling author, lawyer and former Atlanta Falcons defense player, Tim Green, will be appearing at the Cortland County Office Building Gymnasium located at 60 Central Ave in Cortland, NY on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10am. Limited copies of his newest title, Home Run, and some of his earlier titles, will be available to each registered family. Registration opens on Monday, June 6, 2016 and can be done by calling the Cortland Free Library’s youth department at 607-753-1043.  Families must be registered to receive a free book, but the event is open to everyone.

Tim has written over a dozen books for young readers and has spoken at over 1,000 schools spreading the word that “reading is weightlifting for your brain.” Although Tim’s books are mainly centered around sports, his unique writing style can be enjoyed by anyone!  For more information on Tim, please visit http://timgreenbooks.com.

The Cortland Free Library was one of 10 member libraries that applied for this unique opportunity. Through their partnerships with the Philips Free Library in Homer, NY, the Cortland Purple Tiger Football, Homer-Trojan Football, Cortland Junior-Senior High School, Randall Elementary School, the Cortland Youth Bureau and Max Graphics, their application proved they would be able to reach the most young readers in their very diverse community.

Funding was made possible through the generous support from the Friends of Tompkins County Public Library, which enables the Finger Lakes Library System to support member libraries through programming, purchasing materials for system-wide collections, continuing education opportunities, and more.  Visit the Friends of TCPL web site at:  www.booksale.org

One of twenty-three library systems in New York State, The Finger Lakes Library System is a cooperative library system that serves the public libraries in Cayuga, Cortland, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties. Our member libraries, currently numbering 33, are independent and governed by local Boards of Trustees. For more information, visit their website at www.flls.org.
