The Library print collection includes general fiction, non-fiction, and a limited number of reference books. The collection includes juvenile and children's books, local history books, pamphlets, photos, and manuscripts, and a small Quaker collection. There is also a collection of books on audiocassettes and CDs, and there are cassettes of children's music.
Most books may be borrowed for four weeks, and may be renewed if there is no waiting list. Normally there is no limit to the number of books borrowed by a patron but we ask for cooperation and consideration of others when borrowing "holiday books."
Overdue Hazard Library books, audio books and music tapes/CDs are subject to a fine of 10 cents per item, per library day. Interlibrary materials are subject to a fine that is determined by the lending library's policy. The book drop is always available to return books. Fine money may also be put in an envelope with the borrower's name on it and left in the book drop.
Patrons are responsible for all borrowed materials and are expected to reimburse the Library for lost or damaged materials.
The Library has a program for accepting donations. They may be used to dedicate books to a person specified by the donor. It is a unique and striking way to celebrate someone's birthday or to honor them on some other special occasion. It is also a fitting memorial to a loved one. These donations are tax deductible.
