Kids can register for summer reading by visiting the library.  Each child will receive a goody bag with a reading log to keep track of books read, puzzles and games, a booklist, and other fun items.  On Thursday, July 23rd, kids’ reading logs are due at the library so certificates can be awarded on July 30th at our ice cream social summer reading finale.  Summer reading family entertainment takes place on Thursday nights in July from 7-8 PM. See page 1 for the full listing of events. All events are free and open to the public.

Master the art of reading this summer by participating in our first ever adult summer reading
program.  We wanted to find a fun way for adults to get involved, so we are holding a summer
reading raffle. It’s easy! Read as much or as little as you want. Come to the library to pick up your summer reading packet, with raffle tickets and a reading log to help you keep track of your books and audiobooks.

Fill out a raffle ticket for every book that you read or audiobook that you listen to.
If you read to a child, 5 kids’ books count for one ticket.  Put your raffle tickets into the box at the circulation desk.  We will be drawing tickets for prizes during our ice cream social summer reading finale on Thursday, July 30 from 7-8 PM.
You could win:
* One of 2 $5 gift certificates to Bun Appetit Bakery
* One of 3 $ 5 gift certificates to Ice Cream Caboose
* One of 2 $10 gift certificates to Brittany Station
* One gift certificate for a half-hour massage from Janet Jacobs
* Bracelet from Thou Art Gallerage
* Prizes from local crafters
The First National Bank of Groton also supports our summer reading program

Are you crafty? Register for our Recycle a T workshop on Tuesday July 28 from 1-2 PM.
Wendy Skinner of
Sew Green will show us how to take an ordinary t-shirt and transform it into a cool tote bag using nothing but scissors! This workshop is free - all materials are provided, but you can bring your own t-shirt to use if you want.  Stop in or call the library at 898-5055 to
register today.
