New York State Talking Book & Braille Library

 

The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL) is the Regional Library serving the 55 upstate counties of New York in the nationwide program coordinated by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, a division of the Library of Congress.  The library is also a unit of the New York State Library.  TBBL provides braille and recorded books, magazines, and other library services, to those who cannot read because of a physical disability.

Mail-It Library Service 

through the Finger Lakes Library System

Offering books, magazines, and audio books by mail to individuals unable to come in to the library.
Catalogs are provided, and items borrowed postage free.
Service is absolutely FREE, a benefit of your State/County taxes at work!

Available items include: Regular and large-print books, magazines, and audio books for standard cassette player. Loan periods are 4 weeks. Renewals are possible.

Eligibility -- Anyone who has difficulty getting to the library due to distance, lack of transportation, special circumstance, or disability is eligible. Senior citizens are automatically eligible.

Applications -- Applications can be obtained from Cortland Free Library (or any member library within the five-county service area). The application process can also be initiated over the phone to the Outreach Department of the Finger Lakes Library System. The Outreach Department welcomes all questions regarding this service. Requests and renewals by phone are encouraged.
