LAST WEEK’S QUESTION OF THE WEEK In June 2002, Consumer Reports rated Puffs Plus and Puffs Extra Strength most highly. What facial tissue was rated strongest and “softest by a nose” in the Dec. 2006 issue of Consumer Reports?

 Answer: Puffs Ultra

Source: Ah-chooo! … Ahhhh, Consumer Reports, Dec 2006, Vol. 71, Issue 12, p. 9. [Available through: MasterFile Premier accessed through www.flls.org → Electronic Databases → Newspapers & Magazines → MasterFile Premier]

You can find full-text articles from Consumer Reports dating back to January 1991 and citations dating back to 1985. If a patron wants to read an entire issue of Consumer Reports:

  • click on the Publications tab

  • type in “consumer reports” in the Browse Publications box

  • click on Consumer Reports

  • click on the year and then

  • click on the issue

There is a three month delay; so right now the most recent issue with full text articles is October 2007.

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION OF THE WEEK  My amazing daughter Agatha was born on January 18, 1976. [I know I hardly look old enough to have a 32-year old daughter. ] What books/authors (illustrators) won the following literary awards in 1976?

Coretta Scott King Award

Golden Kite Award (children)

National Book Award - Adults

National Book Award - Children’s Books

Newbery Award

Annual Report Information – for questions 3.32 – 3.34/ Early Literacy Programs

These are some of the new questions in the report.  Many of you, if not all of you, have not broken down the ages of the attendees to your early literacy programs.

Not to worry.  Take the total number of programs and divide them with the best estimate you can as to the ages of attendees.  For example, if you had 10 programs with a mix of ages, you could put 5 down for 3.32 – Ages birth to three years…and 5 down for 3.33 – Ages four to five years.  This year, you will need to start keeping track of the ages, in order to answer these questions next year.

Confused?  Don’t hesitate to call either Marisa, x26 or Annette, x27 with questions.
