Teen Spaces Makeover Contest and Workshop
Do you wish you had a better place to serve teens in your library? Enter the Finger Lakes Library System’s Teen Spaces Makeover Contest! Three libraries will be featured in our December 13th Workshop with Kimberly Bolan, consultant and author of Teen Spaces (ALA, 2003); and one library will win $500 in reimbursements, $500 in DEMCO products and design/layout support, and a one-year subscription to E×vanced Solutions summer reading software. All member libraries are encouraged to apply. Watch your delivery for a flyer and submission form with details and deadlines. Workshop and contest are funded with a generous grant from The Friends of Tompkins County Public Library, and donations from DEMCO and E×vanced Solutions. Reservations are required – no exceptions.
Teens and Your Library
Are you looking for ways to promote your library and get your teens involved? Take a look at the finalists for Thomson Gale’s I Love My Library contest. http://www.gale.com/librareo/ I can’t wait to discover who wins on June 24th @ ALA! The pop-up library is my favorite, but I’ll bet your creative teens would love to tell their own story. You can see other Why I Love My Library entries on www.youtube.com.

Polaris Tip of the Week
Adding an Item Record
Be careful when adding an item record that after selecting your template you do not hit the enter key. When you do another row is created. You must delete that extra row before your press OK.
Here is what happens:
When you press OK now this error message displays
Left click on cancel
Highlight any field in that extra row
Delete the extra row by left clicking on the black X
Now press OK.
To prevent this extra row, simply press ALT O, after selecting your template, this is the equivalent of pressing OK.
