CBA (Central Library Book Aid) funding from NYS is being used by FLLS to purchase some databases and non-fiction material, housed at TCPL, but for the benefit of all system member library patrons. Please send me suggested titles or subject areas that you believe would be well used by member libraries and their patrons. This includes titles that are beyond what your budget permits. We welcome your suggestions all year round.
Databases
ü NoveList now include marketing and support materials from the (NoveList Learning Center); you can access patron flyers and bookmarks that can be edited and customized for your library, as well as, online modular training, Quick Start Help Sheets, Search Strategies sheets, etc. Select the “Training and Support” link, available from the left-hand margin of any page in NoveList for these resources.
ü MasterFile Premier is available through the Electronic Database link on the FLLS website. According to EBSCO, MasterFile Premier provides access to 1,700+ full text periodicals, 500 reference books, 84,000+ biographies, and 100,000+ primary source documents. In order to provide this improved database we will discontinue our subscription to Infotrac General Reference Center at the end of the year.

Last Week’s Question of the Week When J.M. Barrie’s’ play Peter Pan premiered in London on Dec. 27, 1904, Barrie was “hailed as the most fashionable playwright of his time” [“J. M. Barrie”, Contemporary Authors Online, Gale 2003, accessed through the electronic database Literature Resource Center]. What is the name of the J.M. Barrie work that first featured the character Peter Pan?
Julia Lon, TRU, used Literature Resource Center to learn that Peter Pan first appeared in the novel The Little White Bird; or, Adventures in Kensington Gardens (1902). It appears that CORT has a copy of this item. This Week’s Question of the Week How may understanding the physiology of hibernation lead to improved health for humans? [Hint: database General Science Collection, search term “hibernation physiological aspects”]
