Polaris “Tip of the Week”

Several custom Patron Services reports have been added to Report Manager on the Web.

  • Patrons Without a Password: This report list the patron that are registered at your library that don't have a password entered into their patron registration record.  The patron needs a password to access their account in PowerPac.

  •      Patrons without a Statistical Class: A list of patrons that don't have a Statistical Class assigned.  This should be run regularly so the patron record can be updated.

  • Patron Statistical Class Count by Library: A count of registered patrons by Statistical Class by library.

These reports are found in the Public Services folder and then in the Patron Services folder.

Jim Trelease visiting Ithaca on September 11.

Jim Trealease will be retiring from speaking this year so don’t miss this chance to hear him.  The Family Reading Partnership is one of four agencies featured in his latest edition.  They have donated many copies of the handbook to the libraries in Tompkins County and to the Finger Lakes Library System.  If you would like a copy to reside at your library, please email me  by August 16, and I will raffle them or distribute them in the order the requests come in. For more information, visit our website and follow the link.

“Sustaining Public Access Computing in Your Library” –
Thursday, August 24th, 9:00 – 3:30 – Borg Warner Room at TCPL

Those of us who work in libraries specialize in providing information to patrons. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a good source of information just for us, busy individuals that we are?

During the "Sustaining Public Access Computing in Your Library" Workshop on August 24th , you will be introduced to WebJunction and the ways it can help you in your library.   Learn about this fantastic tool and the shortcuts essential in navigating the awesome content of this site.

For those of you who may want to acquire more Gates computers down the road, I have also been told that it would be helpful to have taken this workshop.  The planning format and language that is being taught in the workshop, is the one that the Gates foundation would like future applicants to use.

There’s still time to register!  To register online go to:  http://host.evanced.info/nys_rls/evanced/eventcalendar.asp
