LOBBY DAY! LOBBY DAY! LOBBY DAY!
It’s that time of year again : NYLA’s Library Lobby Day will be Tuesday, March 14, 2006 in Albany. Several people from FLLS will be going and would love your company!
There will be some room in the system van or you could ride on the bus being chartered by Four County and Southern Tier Library Systems.
If you are interested in attending, please contact Carol Hendrix, ext. 21, chendrix@flls.org.
Please attend if you can – we need you to help FLLS be strongly represented this year!!!
JAN AGUIRRE, Specialist & Training Coordinator
This is an update to my previous email regarding information about a lost item that has since been deleted. If an item record is declared lost and then the item is deleted, no title or author information is displayed in Patron Status/Account (see example below). However that information is still available simply by right clicking on the item and selecting Properties (see example below). Properties will display the date the item was checked out, the author and the title.

ILL
We are processing Out of System ILL requests for non-fiction items as well as non-English fiction books; you may also request periodical articles and microform items. Please include as much information as possible on the appropriate form (Title or Periodical). Please enter the Publisher and YR (year) on the request form if there is more than one edition and the patron wants a specific edition; if the publisher and/or year is omitted, we will request the most recent and/or most widely available edition. Please remember to select Subst: Y N on the request form if a substitute will be accepted. We only substitute when it appears that the requested title is unavailable. Let me know if you have any questions about the ILL procedure or specific requests
REFERENCE
The Business and Company Resource Center (Gale/Novel) electronic database has a wealth of information about specific companies and industries. I recently learned that the company we all know as Baker & Taylor could just as well have been called Robinson & Barber after its original founders David Robinson and B. B. Barber (1828). It wasn’t until 1885 that James Baker and Nelson Taylor purchased and renamed the company. Baker & Taylor is now owned by the Carlyle Group but in the1950s its parent company was Parents Magazine. You can read financial and investment reports, rankings, brand information, periodical articles and press releases, and the names of key personnel for thousands of companies on the Business and Company Resource Center.
These Recycled Reference Books are still available. Please let me know if you would like any of them sent to your library. (273-4074, ext. 32 or lbeins@flls.org)
