NEW YORK STATE BUDGET PROCESS BEGINS.  LETTERS NEEDED

The New York State budget season has begun.  Governor George Pataki’s office is putting together the Governor’s proposed budget for 2006 now.  Letters or other communications are needed to urge him to include increased state funding for libraries.  The message is simple.  Citizens need and deserve good libraries.  State funds help local libraries deliver expanded service to their communities.  We will be sending more specific information about legislative priorities soon.  Meanwhile library staff, trustees, volunteers, and other library supporters can contact the Governor as follows:

Hon. George E. Pataki
Governor
Executive Chamber
State Capitol
Albany
, New York 12224

ALSO check the NYLA website, www.nyla.org for suggestions.
