Cabin Fever Storytime Idea Swap
The FLLS Cabin Fever Storytime Idea Swap will take place on March 11. You don’t have to do a regular storytime to come – if you used to, if you want to, or if you’re just interesting for programs and books for young children; Come! We’ll shake our sillies out and get down to the serious business of conducting storytimes for young folks.
What to bring— your good company and a fingerplay, song, book, or craft that you love to use for storytimes! Please let me know if you’ll be attending, so we can plan for space and goodies. (dianam@flls.org; x. 27)

From Robert Frawley, NYS Council on Children and Families:
Target has announced anew grants program, donating between $1,000 and $3,000 to programs in their market communities. Their funding interests are in three areas: early childhood reading (birth to third grade), the arts and family violence prevention. They will accept grant applications between March 1 and May 31, 2004. Applications will be reviewed as they are received; therefore, you are encouraged to apply early. All funding decisions will be communicated no later than September 30, 2004.

Please remember to add the following information to all video and sound recording fast add titles:
[videorecording] Example: Honey, we shrunk ourselves [videorecording]
[sound recording] Example: The Da Vinci code [sound recording]
Adding the bracketed information makes it easier for your patrons to make a distinction between the video or sound recording versions of materials and the printed versions. If you wish, you may expand the information for either format to make a distinction between VHS tapes and DVD disks as well as between cassette sound recordings and compact disc sound recordings.
[videorecording] vhs Example: What a girl wants [videorecording] vhs
[videorecording] dvd Example: Sinbad [videorecording] dvd
[sound recording] cass Example: Clear and present danger [sound recording] cass
[sound recording] cd Example: Gettysburg [sound recording] cd
Please note that the permanent bib records will only have [videorecording] or [sound recording] added to the titles. The distinction between VHS and DVD as well as between cassette and CD will be made on iPac by the appearance of the appropriate graphic icon for each particular format.
If you have any questions concerning this project, please do not hesitate to contact me.
