If You Liked Harry Potter, Try…
I’ve just put a Harry Potter Read Alike list on the youth section of the FLLS website! Please take a look at it on our website at http://www.flls.org/youth/harryra.htm.
Feel free to print it out and distribute it to your patrons who are waiting for the new book (15 days and counting…). I also invite you to read one of the books on the list and let me know what you think. If anyone would like to review one of the books for publication here, or in the newsletter, please contact me!
Great Harry Potter Idea
Danette at Auburn recently coordinated a fantastic Harry Potter program! Among the fabulous activities was a cover contest for the newest Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Workshop Opportunity
Cayuga Onondaga BOCES School Library System presents “Effective Leaders Support Effective Library Programs” a workshop with Timothy Snyder, Ed.D. FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2003 from 8:30-2:30 at the BOCES Annex at St. Mary’s School (17 Clymer St., Auburn).
The schedule will be: Morning—Correlations between student achievement and effective library media programs will be explored; Lunch; Keynote Address—Your school principal can be a champion of the media center or its greatest detriment, often by doing no more than merely glossing over its existence. The relationship between you, the individual librarian, and your boss, can make a big difference in what role your principal chooses to play. With humor and insight, author Tim Snyder hands out pearls of wisdom, planning strategies, and anecdotal inspiration for gaining administrative support for your media center and library programs.
Please register me for the June 27, 2003 workshop.

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN! (Author unknown)
- The life of the party...even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
- I'm very good at opening childproof caps with a hammer.
- I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.
- I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
- I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
- I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over. . .
- I'm aware that other people's grandchildren are not as cute as mine.
- I'm so cared for -- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.
- I'm not grouchy, I just don't like traffic, waiting, crowds, lawyers, loud music, unruly kids, Toyota commercials, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, barking dogs, politicians and a few other things I can't remember.
- I'm sure everything I can't find is in a secure place.
- I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
- I'm having trouble remembering simple words like . . .
- I'm realizing that aging is not for wimps. I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days, and when did they let kids become policemen?
- I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?
- I'm a walking storeroom of facts.....I've just lost the key to the storeroom door.
Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!
