NYLA-YSS Pied Piper Award

“The Pied Piper Committee is currently seeking entries for this year’s award. We know that youth services librarians and staff produce many eye-catching, innovative publications every year. These efforts deserve to be recognized!...Please submit [your] creative fliers, bookmarks, booklists, and other publications, so that if chosen, [your] talents will be honored and shared with others.” Deadline for entries is June 1, 2003. Land a Space Station in Your Library

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the American Library Association (ALA), and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) invite you to host a traveling exhibit directed to children and their parents.

The computer interactive exhibit will feature presentations created specifically to draw children and other members of the community. Content will encourage students interested in careers in space and research. It will also appeal to environmental/agricultural enthusiasts, parents, child care providers, industrial executives and health care professionals.

A stipend will be given to each library as part of the NASA @ your library^TM grant awarded to ALA and managed by ALSC. This free exhibit will tour 120 libraries across the country within a two-year period beginning in July 2003. Each library will host the exhibit for one month.

Representatives from host libraries will be required to attend a training session either in Toronto at the ALA Annual Conference on June 20, 2003; or in San Diego at the ALA Midwinter Meeting on January 9, 2004.
