Please fill out the pink “Please Process” form completely when sending books in for processing. This is especially important with regard to how you prefer to have a book classified. If you wish to have a book classified a certain way, please indicate your choice by checking any of the appropriate boxes at the top of the form. If you don’t indicate your preference, FLLS will classify it according to our established criteria. For example, if you send in a book that FLLS considers a young adult, we will classify it that way if you don’t indicate your preference even if your intention was to have it classified juvenile. Another example is reference -- unless you indicate that the item you send in should be reference, we will classify it as a circulating item. Finally, if you have any special collection prefix or call number you wish to have us use, please indicate your wishes in the Special Instructions part of the form.
Since most of the member libraries are now on Dynix, we are getting fewer vendor cards and Dynix forms to process. As a result, we often send back only one or two cards or forms instead of multiple cards or forms. Please check the bottom of your delivery bags for these small numbers of cards and forms. They are being missed when the bags are emptied at your end, and then they are being sent back to us again.
If there are any questions, please contact me.

December System Meeting
Starr LaTronica, from the 4 County Library System will be joining us to discuss the great new J and YA novels she’s been reading as a member of this year’s Newbery Award Committee. She would like to know what we’re reading, too. So, please bring a picture book to share. The meeting is Thursday, December 5 at 9:00 am. A flier will be coming around via the delivery soon!

It has been brought to my attention that there is an error in the Annual Report for 2001, handed out at our annual meeting and sent to member board presidents. Please correct your report on page 13, Member Library 2001 Statistics:
Springport Free Library, Union Springs: circulation should be 21,401 with a per capita circulation of 9.49
My apologies to the Springport Free Library community for any problems this may have caused.

Just a reminder about next weeks FALCONS (Finger Lakes Automated Library Consortium) meeting. The date is Thursday 11/21/2002 at 9:00 AM in the Borg Warner Room in the Tompkins County Public Library. Your attendance is an obligation you have as part of the consortium. We need you at the meetings so you can voice your concerns, participate in decisions and help advise us on what your needs are.
Please participate. We can only be as good as your level of participation.

Just another reminder on the changes to the FLLS.org web site. If you maintain the web site for your library you may want to check for broken links that refer back to pages on our web site. The most common link was to the Electronic Databases. I noticed that the link for the Electronic Databases is broken on the sites for Moravia, Weedsport, Seneca Falls and Dryden.
I didn’t do a complete audit of all links on all web sites, but those jumped out. The correct link for the Electronic Databases is: http://www.flls.org/databases.htm
You may also want to double check your links for the on-line catalog although I didn’t notice any sites where that didn’t work correctly.
As always, if you have any questions, please give us a call.
