TEEN READ WEEK
Teen Read Week is October 13th 19th. This years theme is Get Graphic @ Your Library, celebrating graphic novels. Check out http://www.ala.org/teenread/trw/ for more information on how to better serve young adults in the library. From NYLINE:
As part of Teen Read Week, YALSA a division of ALA has partnered with SmartGirl.org to solicit teen opinion about reading. YALSA and AASL would like you to consider having your students and/or your young adult patrons respond to these questions about what, how and why they either do or don't read. One strategy YALSA suggests for increasing the responses (and improving the validity) is to post the link in your computer area and encourage teens to take the survey while they are on-line. The survey is accessible from the Teen Read Week site (www.ala.org/teenread/) or from Teen Hoopla (www.ala.org/teenhoopla) and will be available until October 31. Results will be released later this winter on YALSA's adolescent literacy site, www.ala.org/teenread.ROBERT McLAUGHLIN, Cataloging Services
Not reading the Weekly Bulletin? I sent out an inquiry a couple of weeks ago about the following book we received without an indication of the owning library on the process slip:
Official Hakess Price Guide to Character Toys
So far, no one has claimed it, and its been here since the beginning of September. A $35 reference book would be a welcome addition to any librarys collection if I dont hear from the owner soon, maybe I should consider offering it to another library.
Note: This book did not have any property stamp on it either. Please remember that it is VERY important that you indicate ownership especially since we no longer provide pockets.
