Hi all! In the next week or so you will be receiving a document that I compiled called the "Health Bibliography 2002". It contains purchasing information for current health/medical books on a wide range of topics. All the books contained in the bibliography have been reviewed favorably by at least Library Journal.
Please take some time to peruse it. I hope it will be of help to you. I would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, as it will help me with any future lists. Also, as always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
Harry Potter Update
I have received word from Scholastic Inc. that you may legally use any Harry Potter image thats taken directly from the original Harry Potter Books, in relation to promoting the books.
This is great news. Copyright issues are sometimes foggy so this is a nice clear go ahead for using depicting of Harry Potter for library publicity, murals and displays.

Parents as Internet Partners
Through an LSTA Grant, the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library, (in Valley Stream, Long Island) has created a website designed to educate parents about the internet: http://www.nassaulibrary.org/valleyst/PAIPHome.htm. This website may be very useful if you have parents, or others who are asking specific questions about the world wide web. For example, the site covers online safety, netiquette, as well as such basics as What is a URL? Please keep this site in mind when you receive questions about the internet from parents. The site is text heavy, but provides accessible explanations for topics which many people find baffling and/or overwhelming.
A request from the Interlibrary Loan dept:
When sending in books to either fill holds at other libraries, or to be returned to the owning libraries, please do not tape the receipt printouts to the items. This slows down the processing of the items at FLLS and can damage materials. Please just place them inside the books, sticking out of the top, so that the information showing where they should be routed is clearly visible.
Transit Hold items (requested items) should have blue slips placed on top of the white receipt printouts. In Transit items (returned items) need only the white receipt printout.
Please contact Kathy Parkhurst if you have any questions.
