Next week’s FALCON (Dynix Users Group) meeting will be Thursday, May 16th, 2002, from 9:00-12:00. The meeting will be held in the Borg Warner Room at the Finger Lakes Library System Headquarters. The agenda is as follows:

 

  9:00-10:00  Business Meeting (Rex)

  10:00-11:30  Kathy will present the training session on the topic:

            “Everything you ever wanted to know about Holds on Dynix”.

1.      Reviewing holds functions

·         Different ways to place holds

·         look at holds lists

·         update and cancel holds

 

2.      What controls holds – different reasons holds may be blocked

 

3.      Who loans what? Policies of individual libraries

 

4.      Preventing and resolving problems with Holds and Hold Alert Report

 

5.      Changing status of items

·         from ‘Checked In’ to ‘Missing’

·         from ‘New’ to regular

 

There will be time for questions and discussion both during and after the training session.

 

      11:30-12:00  Rex will demonstrate the new IPAC module, which is a new version of the online public access catalog, that features book covers, table of contents, reviews, etc.
