Hello everyone! Just a couple of things……

  1. Last year, I began purchasing books on tape and videos for the System collection from a company called Sounds True. These tapes and videos all pertain to spiritual subjects including Christianity, Judaism, & Buddhism, as well as prayer, yoga, meditation, and other spiritual practices. Many also pertain to alternative health information.
It would help me a great deal if you could track these tapes somehow; perhaps just keep an eye on them to see if they go out at all. They all have the publisher’s name – Sounds True – on the back of the tapes. I would appreciate any information you could gather, as it will help me greatly with collection development.
  2. The annual report deadline to get it in to the system (2/15) has come and gone. Several of you have submitted your report (THANK YOU!!) and many of you have let us know that you are working on it and trying very hard to get it done as soon as possible. We appreciate all your efforts, and want to continue to stress how important it is to get your reports done AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
The annual reports for all member libraries cannot be submitted to Albany until all libraries’ reports are submitted and finished completely (including receiving your certification sheets). We, and therefore you, do not receive state aid until all reports are completed and submitted. So we strongly encourage you to send in your report as soon as possible. Thank you!
  3. Recently, Malia received several collections that contained broken video boxes. Please handle video boxes with care and ask your patrons to do so as well. Box replacement cost $1.00 per box, which can really add up over time.
    Thanks!
  4. Don't forget....
Thursday, February 28 from 9:30 to noon, you can learn all about customer service with the "Answer me this..." Repertory Company from the Onondaga County Public Library. They will be presenting: "Dilemmas at the Library or...the customer enters!" -- a series of humorous skits illustrating good customer service. Please join us!! RSVP to Marisa as soon as possible by either e-mail (marisa@flls.org) phone (ext. 26) or FAX. Thanks!
