 | After a lengthy search process, we have hired Malia Newby as the
Library Associate, A-V to take over after Barb retires. Malia has been
working here at Finger Lakes Library System as a Shelving Page, so while
she is not a new face, she will be in a new place. Look for more
information about Malia in our upcoming newsletter. |
 | We have reached that critical point where almost every library who
requested a video deposit collection has received one. Now that everyone
(with the exception of Cincinnatus, due to building renovations) will
have their videos, we will be making all FLLS-owned videos available for
request as of July 2nd. This means: 1) Patrons can place holds on
FLLS-owned videos. 2) Dynix libraries will see videos on your
daily holds list. |
 | Please keep in mind that by making the videos available for requests,
it will: 1) Increase the loaning librarys interlibrary loan
statistics 2) Increase the borrowing librarys circulation
statistic. 3) Give more leverage to your library in the
competition with video stores. 4) Allow you to tell your patron,
Yes, we can try to get that video for you
.there are no guarantees,
but we can try. |
 | Newer videos will be housed here at FLLS for three months and will be
available for request only; they will not be included in deposit
collections. After the three month period, we will include them in
deposit collections. I guarantee that this cooperative effort will
be well worth it and, hopefully, the newly accessible videos will be
well used! |
 | Lastly, I just want to remind everyone of the great system meeting
coming up. Teresa Huggins will be coming from Clinton, NY to talk with
you about how to Open Your Door to Teens. She is a great
motivating speaker and well worth the trip to Ithaca to see. If you can
make it, but did not have a chance to send in your RSVP, just give me a
call, e-mail or fax. I hope you can make it! |
