MEMBER LIBRARY WEEKLY BULLETIN

No. 01-21                                                                                                                                             June 1, 2001

MARISA IACOBUCCI, Adult Services Coordinator

Thank you all for coming to the System Meeting last week. Ann and Karen truly enjoyed meeting you all to share their enthusiasm for book discussion groups. Ann e-mailed me the web page set up as part of the Mid-York Library System web page. You have to type in the full address, as there is no link from the main page yet: www.midyork.org/bookdiscussion.

If you enjoyed May’s System Meeting, you are sure to feel the same about the June meeting. Teresa Huggins, who has 19 years of experience working with youth as a teacher, counselor and leadership consultant, will be giving the workshop “Opening Your Doors to Teens” at the System Meeting on June 28th. I went to a similar workshop she gave last year, and went home feeling much calmer about relating to the adolescents that came to my library. I encourage you all to come…. include as many staff as you can fit in the car! Anyone who has ever worked the circulation desk and found they were having that sinking feeling as they saw a group of teen come down the sidewalk (ugh!) will definitely benefit from this workshop.

At the May System Meeting I mentioned that Barb & I needed your input concerning the non-fiction sets that we will be sending out in your deposit collections. Please let us know if you:

a) would like the set to be counted as one (1)

or

b) would like each individual video to be counted. For example, the Civil War series is nine videos. Do you want the set to count as one or as nine?  I have heard from some of you already, but really would like to hear from all those getting a deposit collection. We will mark what you want to do on your profile card.

Lastly, your first Booklist issue should be arriving by no later than the second week of June. Please let me know if you have not received it by June 15th.

Unidentified library sent in a book to be processed:

We received, in the delivery, a copy of the book: The Men's Club, by Bert Gottlieb (about prostate cancer), from a library that did not fill in the library key on the 'Please Process' form. The date sent was 5/18/01. Please check your recent order slips and call me to identify which library this should be processed for.
