MEMBER LIBRARY WEEKLY BULLETIN
No. 00-39 September 29, 2000
Jennifer Jackson is the temporary Library Director for Spencer Library.
REMINDER:
This information was sent out to member libraries on Sept. 15, but due to the importance of the subject matter, I am sending it out again:
November 10 has been designated as the last day that FLLS will be open in our current location. However, department activities for that day will be limited to preparing for the move to the new location. One major consideration with regard to the move is deciding what to do about materials you send in for cataloging and processing. At any one time we may have approximately 25 book trucks loaded with materials waiting to be cataloged and processed, and this usually amounts to about one months department activity. To avoid having to unload book carts and box up unprocessed materials, I have determined that it is necessary to request that you suspend sending in materials for cataloging and processing after Oct. 13.
Once the move is completed, we will accept materials from you once again, but I have yet to determine an appropriate date. In addition, since we do not have extra space in the new location to store more than the usual amount of materials, I will be requesting that you send in the most important items first and the remainder at a later time.
The suspension of accepting materials for cataloging and processing does not include vendor cards or Le Pac/Dynix update forms. You may continue to submit requests for adds, deletes and changes in the usual manner. Finally, if there is a locally obtained item that you believe can not wait until after the move to be cataloged and processed, please let me know personally and I will work out arrangements to have it expedited I believe such an item would be handled under the established procedure we have for materials submitted with a green "EXPEDITED PROCESS" form.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
