We are delighted to announce that Robert de Roos will join the Finger Lakes Library System Staff as Information Systems Specialist/Trainer on October 16. Rob comes to us with a Masters of Science with an emphasis on Information Systems from Drexel University. He has experience working at Cornell University in various computer support positions. Rob will be working in the Information Systems Department, providing Dynix and microcomputer support to member libraries and FLLS staff.

• Gates Foundation Grant Update

Congratulations to the following libraries that have had their appeals approved: Cady Library in Nichols and the Port Byron Library. All the appeals that were submitted have been approved.

Many of the libraries have started receiving the grant checks. You may deposit the check after you sign and mail the grant agreement that accompanied the check but not before. The Gates Foundation sent the total amount of the grant that your library was approved for. You will receive purchase orders for the granted equipment at the "Before Your Computer Arrives" or shortly afterwards.

Everyone should have signed up for the "BYCA" workshop. The Gates Foundation has received your attendance confirmation and is only responding back to the libraries that didn’t sign up, so plan on attending.
